My First Love
I can still clearly remember when I first heard my first love sang on the radio, way back 2009. She sang this song called "Our Song" and after hearing it once, it got stuck in my head. So the next day, I waited for that same song to be played again and prepared the voice recorder of my phone to record the song once it plays. Well, I was 11 back then, and downloading songs on the internet wasn't really a thing yet and I'm not even knowledgeable enough to use our old computer. Luckily, the song was played again and there I was, recording the whole song so I can replay it in my room until I learn the lyrics.
After 2 days, I memorized the song and it became my favorite. Then, I became curious about who the artist was behind that song. With the help of my Aunt, she helped me search on the internet who the singer was. And there she was, my first love. Taylor Swift. She's the very first artist who I recognized as my idol. I've met a lot of singers way back before her. But she was different. There was something in her that really caught me. I don't know if it was her song, her voice, her beauty, her skill of playing the guitar flawlessly, or maybe all of it. Because of her, I asked my Aunt to teach me more about operating the computer, on how to use Internet Explorer and how to use Youtube, just so I can discover more about her.
Eventually, I learned to use the computer after a few weeks. That's when I started searching about Taylor almost every day after school. I searched for more songs from her - You Belong With Me, Love Story, Teardrops on my Guitar, Picture To Burn. I remember these songs were my first favorite songs of her. I searched for her music videos and I became addicted to her. I love how she sings, how she plays her guitar, and her stage presence - so mind blowing! Falling in love with her was like breathing air. The best of all, her character and the way she talks about life and love was simply amazing and inspiring.
Because of her, I dreamed of learning to play the guitar since I was 11. So I started saving my school allowance. I wanted to buy my own guitar and play it like she does. Finally after 3 years, my savings were enough to buy myself my own instrument. So last January 2013, I bought my very first guitar, and the first song that I learned to play was Dear John, still a song by Taylor. I also started writing my own songs when I was 15 because I was simply inspired by her. She's not just a singer but she's also a songwriter and her talent for words is exquisite. I didn't just love and idolize her, but she also became my role model.
Fast forward to the present, my love for her way back then, is nothing compared to how I love her now. She has always been with me through her music for eleven years. Every album she releases is magical to my ears and I get all euphoric every time she drops a new single or she uploads a new live acoustic performance on Youtube. I've also idolized other artist as the years past, but they didn't last long to me. I idolized them but maybe only for a month or two, and then it fades. But for Taylor Swift, every day it grows.
And so, it has always been part of my dream list to meet her in person someday or maybe attend to one of her concerts someday when I can afford it. Although part of me somehow already accepts the fact that I may never see her in person, but there's nothing wrong with dreaming about it right? My first ever blog was all about her (teylarswift blog is still active up to this day). I also tried reaching out to her through Tumblr, Instagram, and Twitter, hoping someday that she'll notice me like how she did with some of her fans around the globe. There's no harm in trying and I'll never stop trying.
I'm forever grateful for having met Taylor Swift at such a young age and be able to grew together with her and her music. She had such a big influence to my life, and she's a big part of who I am and how I am today. I will always be proud to introduce myself as a swiftie and will always support her at whatever decisions she will have for her life and her career. Thank you Taylor Swift, my first love. ❤️️❤️️❤️️
