Frequently Asked Questions
1. How did you get started?
My blogging journey started way back last 2010. I used to play Ameba Pico Virtual World for 2 years straight 2010-2012. I've met lots of people from that game who have their own blogs about the game. So I started my very first blog - My Pink Pico Journey (via blogger(.)com). Unfortunately the game was shut down last 2012, and so I briefly stopped running my blog too.
After 2 months, I went back to blogging and shifted my content into a Taylor Swift fandom blog. In 2013, a classmate of mine from high school introduced me to Tumblr and so I shifted and made an account there. And so last February 2013 I started my 2nd blog - teylarswift. It was a blog fully dedicated to Taylor Swift, all of my articles, pictures, videos were all about her.
After a year, I started other blogs dedicated to Hunger Games fandom, Maze Runner, Bridgit Mendler, Lorde, and Narnia Fandom. Then in 2015, I started my own personal blog, in which I stopped running it at around 2016 because I sort of became busy with life 😜. My teylarswift blog is still active and running up to this day while the other blogs, I stopped them at around mid-2016. Fast forward to 2020 when the pandemic happened, that's when I went back to blogging, and opened "To Be Mentally Stronger".
2. Why did you first named your blog "To Be Mentally Stronger"?
Many people thought that my blog was named that way because I wanted to advise my readers how to be mentally stronger. But they were wrong. "To Be Mentally Stronger" was not meant for them, but for me. I felt like all these years, blogging has been my platform to open up my thoughts, opinions and whatever feelings that I have. Expressing my mind thru blogging somehow helped me strengthen my mental health.
I am not a good public speaker, and I'm not even good at venting out my thoughts and feelings to other human beings because I feel like, people nowadays are not interested in how you feel, but only on how they feel. And I know what it's like to be unheard and misinterpreted just because you think or feel that way.
So that's why I choose to be open with my blog, including my mistakes and whatever opinions I may have, because I know somewhere out there, at least 1 person could relate to me and she/he wouldn't feel alone anymore, because they are not the only ones feeling that way. And for those who disagree with whatever my articles are about, it's not my problem anymore because this is my blog hahahaha and this is my world to rock! 😎😎
3. What's up with your "Barefoot and High Heels" now?
I've thought about this new name for like 30 minutes before I decided to really go for this one. I wanted my blog's name to be metaphoric and so I choose Barefoot and High Heels. Barefoot for me signifies the low days of my life or the days were I'm making mistakes and learning from them, while High Heels signifies the happy, memorable, and triumphant moments as well.
I wanted this blog not just to be about positivity, happiness, and other colorful stuffs we may have. I wanted to show off the days as well when I was out there being vulnerable, and reckless but learning at the same time. I'm 22 and I think it's not yet the age for a person to be all-good-and-perfect, so give me a break! HAHAHAHA still a work in progress here!
4. Who takes your pictures?
I could credit lots of people for my pictures. But mostly, it's my boyfriend (also my co-author on this blog). My sister and my friends also took some of my pictures too and I'm thankful for them. Keep 'em coming guys! 😂
5. Can you give any advice for people who wants to start their own blogs?
I'm not the best person to give an advice for people who want to start their own blogs but maybe I can help or give a tip. Blogging is not easy as for me, I read my articles at least a hundred times before I publish it to make sure it's understandable and on point with whatever I want to talk about. But your blogging journey can be as smooth as silk if you know your direction or you know what you'll be blogging about.
If you are to blog in honor of your favorite artist or movie or band, then that's your direction. If you are to have a personal blog, then it will somehow be like an open diary where you write down your rants, experiences, or life lessons. If you want to blog about your passion in fashion, travel, baking, or whatever arts you're involve, then go head to it. My point is, if you know what you're gonna talk about, then blogging will be easier and fun.
If you want some help with regards to your blog URL, or theme, don't hesitate to message me up on my email. Ciao and happy blogging! ❤️️
