That Act Of Kindness

In my previous article, I shared to you our experience during our hike at the Alicia Panoramic Park. I think it's pretty much obvious that the highlight for that trip was when we reached the top of it and see the best view. But aside from the views and the great adventure we had for that day, there was one specific event that personally touched me and was memorable for me.

Remember when I shared about our car getting stuck in the mud for over an hour? Yep that one. We were only able to get out of the situation because of the residents and the 2 motocross riders who stopped to help us out.

Let me tell you how it touched me. When our car got stucked in the mud, the car's position was totally blocking the way. We were literally like a barrier as no one can drive pass us due to that position. Only motorcycles can pass by on us because there was a narrow opening on the side in which a motor can go through if  only they slowly drive throught it. It was awkward for us too because motorcycle drivers stare at us while we're all dripping wet, standing in the corner, waiting for Dar and Jo to be back while they were looking for help and tools as well.

All of us were silently hoping that some of these people passing by would voluntarily stop and help us out. Minutes later, around 30-40 motocross riders all went down from the Panoramic Park and together they drove passed us. Well since we were blocking the way, they all looked at us and I guess they figured out what was going on but apparently most of them just stared at us and then drove away.

We were a bit disappointed until finallyyyyyyyyyy, 2 motocross riders looked at us, and then stopped to help us out. So we told them how did it happened and then they started pushing the car out. Minutes later, 5 residents passed by on us and voluntarily stopped as well to help the 2 riders in pushing the car. Dar and Jo also arrived bringing the borrowed tools and all of them helped together to push the car and then succeed.

We were really thankful to those men who willinglly helped us. I was really touched because out of so many riders and residents who saw us, there were seven who were very kind and chose to help us. After that event, I felt inspired. I wanna be like them, I wanna be able to help other people too at any random time. That event reminded me of Princess Diana saying "Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward."

To receive kindness from other people is good, but to show kindness to others is a blessing. Even the smallest act of kindness can change someone's entire day and can become a memory of a lifetime. And that's what those people made me feel. Imagine if nobody helped us, we'd be stuck there for a long time and we'd be home too late. I'll forever be thankful to them and I'm praying for them too that the kindness they showed us will be returned to them in another way through God's will.

I can't help but really write an article about it and about them because they really inspired me. Soon, I wanna be able to touch other people's lives too by showing them any act of kindness, and that's what I'm striving for. It doesn't have to be a huge act. I'll also pray to God that He'll use me and my entire life in showing goodness to people who needed help too. Let me end this article with a beautiful quote by Aesop, No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
